Mila Retreat Hut

Mila Retreat Hut

Mila Retreat Hut was built in 1984 with the long term intention that it would eventually serve as the Lama's quarters for the three year retreat facility, a long term dream of the monastery. In close proximity to the small Marpa Retreat Hut, it also faces East with an extensive view across the nearby hills. This hut is very sunny during the summer months; with more limited sun in the winter it can be cold, so a gas heater is provided (gas for the heater is charged as an extra cost).

The hut consists of a shrine/bedroom and a kitchen area. A gas cooker and a good number of pots, pans, cutlery, crockery are supplied along with a gas lamp. Both areas open onto the verandah which encompasses two sides of the hut. Hygiene facilities are basic, consisting of a long drop toilet 10 metres from the hut, and a solar bag for external shower. Access to the main part of the monastery is a ten minute walk along Bodhisattva Road.
