Zopa Hut

Zopa Hut

Located on the side of the valley, below the stupas, facing the retreat huts, Zopa (patience) hut is surrounded by bush and bird life. The first stage of this hut was built in 1980, later in 1987 an extension was added. It has two halves divided by a covered verandah. For many years both were homes of residents at the Monastery. Recently they have become the dormitories. One side is the women’s dormitory sleeping five and the other the men’s dormitory sleeping six.

There is no electricity, cooking or hygiene facilities attached to this hut. A solar shower below the hut is available for summer use. Kitchen and toilet facilities are situated in the Bodhi House, only a few minutes walk away. A gas lamp is provided for lighting. During winter a gas heater is provided for the women's side and a wood buring stove is available for the men's side.

Due to the fire risk no candles are permitted to be used. Please read the fire and hut saftey sheet inside the hut and note the position of the fire extinguisher.
